My training in sculpture comes mainly from my higher studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. I had an excellent teacher who knew how to give me the freedom to grow as an artist, but the roots were a very important craft background of about 10 years of studies in cabinetmaking, wood carving and furniture design. The luck of having parents who were craftsmen and artists probably also had something to do with it.
I consider art as a “craft” that requires concepts, sensitivity and research, and that is my purpose. Having a very broad training, it allows me to continue studying various lines of work. With this mentality, I work on “series” that are generally never finished, as I have been researching them for more than 30 years.
For example: I have the series of LA SEMILLA which I also call Genesis or El Pensamiento. It tries to give an understanding of the beginning of the World. Another series is LA RUEDA DEL TIEMPO which tries to show the Universe as a continuous movement that returns or fails to turn around, like life itself. There is also the series LA PATA DE MI SILLA DE COCINA which tries to give another vision of a chair profile of the most common ones, which by assembling and playing, I manage to find new sculptures and compositions. Another series is LAS CARAS. They are mainly profiles, of “the different faces” of a person depending on the situation they are in.
Many of these sculptures are carved in stone. We all know very well that we “adapt” or react in different ways depending on our state of mind, depending on who is in front of us.
Like many sculptors, I work on drawing more than painting. Always abstract as well as sculpture, but curiously I do not draw my sculptures, in many cases the first step is emotional and visionary (1% of the work) The rest, as they say, is always “a lot of work” (99% more…).
My favourite materials are wood, stone, metal and bronze. I am interested in the energy that primary materials transmit. My relationship with prehistory is evident in many of my works, but it is generally an unconscious search, I never look for it, it is part of me. Of this collective unconscious that perhaps in my case is more present…

La rueda del tiempo series
La Rueda del Tiempo is not just a symbol: it is an ancient echo carved into the most eternal matter. Each stone here is a fragment of a cycle, of an invisible orbit that carries everything along with it. Time does not move forward: it turns. It turns like the planets, the seasons, memories. It turns like we ourselves turn in our search.
The sculptures, eroded like fossilised traces of a thought, evoke circular shapes, spirals, broken hoops, halves that almost touch. Some seem to have been recently released from the riverbed; others, fragments of a wheel impossible to reconstruct. There is movement, but there is also pause. Because time — like stone — can also stand still.
In this space, a question as old as the world is posed:
Are we really moving forward, or are we just repeating ourselves?
Can we return to the point of origin, or is the beginning now somewhere else?
Is the wheel a return or a destination?
The visitor walks among the fragments of this infinite wheel, challenged by matter and emptiness, by the weight of what was and the promise of what returns.
The installation offers no answers: only the persistent rumbling of the wheel’s rotation.
Because perhaps time, like us, is always trying to remember.

La Semilla series
Semilla sculptures are a visual manifesto on origin, transformation and potentiality. With an aesthetic that oscillates between the organic and the metaphysical, these works evoke the dormant force within every beginning. The artist captures in bronze, wood or marble a form that, although inspired by the plant world, rises to an almost mystical dimension: a seed that contains not only life, but also destiny.
Textured surface, rough in some areas and smooth in others, invites tactile contemplation; it is as if the material speaks of time, natural cycles and the memory of the earth. The use of bronze—an ancient, eternal material—creates a poetic contrast with the fragility inherent in the concept of the seed. This is not a simple naturalistic reproduction, but a symbolic interpretation, where the seed is also a metaphor for the human being: closed, contained, but full of vital energy and possibilities waiting to germinate.
Often placed in public spaces, these sculptures not only dialogue with their surroundings, but also invite the viewer to silent introspection. They inhabit a frozen moment in time, a fruitful waiting, a whisper of what is to come. Through an apparently simple form, they manage to condense the tension between the small and the immense, between the silence of matter and the murmur of creation.

Las Caras series
In the sculptural series Las Caras (The Faces), he chisels much more than human profiles: he carves, with an almost brutal yet poetic precision, the multiple masks of being. Each face—often barely emerging from the stone block as if hesitating between revealing itself or hiding—is presented as an unfinished portrait of the self, an echo of who we are in front of others, in front of ourselves.
Carved mainly in stone, these sculptures condense the paradox of identity: the solidity of what we appear to be and the fragility of what we are. The profiles, which sometimes multiply in a single piece, do not seek symmetry or conventional beauty. They confront us with faces that mutate with mood, with memory, with the tension of the moment. Each sculpture is a mask and, at the same time, its tear.
Stone—an ancient, almost eternal material—acts as a metaphor for our internal structures: hard, resistant, but eroded by time and experience. In this dialogue between form and emotion, the artist does not show a face, but rather the impossibility of having just one. He reminds us that we are a succession of gestures, a mosaic of reactions, of versions of ourselves.
Las Caras do not look at the viewer. They force us to look at ourselves. To ask ourselves which of all these facets is the real one—if such a thing exists—and what we reveal when someone observes us.

PRIMITIF series
The PRIMITIF series is a collection of ‘Functional Sculptures’ or what we also call ‘Art Design.’ Perhaps it is a reaction to my academic background (when I studied cabinetmaking), where craftsmanship perfection was sought. Or maybe it is another way of understanding sculpture and giving it a purpose. There is something ‘brutal’ about each of them that, as in other series, brings me closer to Prehistory, to that relationship I have always had with primitive men.
In some works, I mix writing and sculpture; perhaps I am trying to express something that I cannot achieve with words. I work equally with stone, wood or metal, applying ‘repetitive blows’ that, little by little, will give shape and soul to the piece.

La pata de la silla de mi cocina series
“La pata de la silla de mi cocina” is a sculptural series that draws on everyday life to achieve the poetic. I take as my starting point an ordinary, functional object: the typical kitchen chair, that silent, humble, forgotten presence of everyday life. But I do not represent it in its entirety: I focus on its leg, on that side profile that goes unnoticed and yet supports the entire structure.
Through assembly and play, this familiar silhouette is broken down and reconfigured to give it a new voice. The sculptures emerge as hybrid creatures, halfway between sign and abstract sculpture. Each piece is a free reinterpretation, sometimes humorous, sometimes poetic, that seems to ask: what would happen if a functional fragment ceased to obey its purpose?
The compositions, far from seeking symmetry or perfection, explore unstable balance and irregular rhythm, as if each sculpture were discovering its new identity for itself.
In this gesture of taking the domestic and giving it another life, I invite you to look at the world with different eyes. To discover, in the banal, an inexhaustible source of forms, gestures and sculptural possibilities. Thus, what was once a chair leg becomes a manifesto of imagination and formal freedom.
SIGNES is a collection of sculptures in natural steel with the option of bronze and with the possibility of colour lacquering. These sculptures can be hung on the wall or on a pedestal. Numbered and signed pieces.
